This graph is the first of three. The ramp that was used was 21 inches. The skateboard would be sent down the ramp and it would go down the slope and onto a marked driveway. The driveway was marked by 2 feet. The green line was my prediction of how far the skateboard would go each second. The grey dotted line was the actual feet per second. As you can see my prediction was off by a lot from how fast the skateboard went. My graphs were different because when I first watched the video it was going fast. Then the second time I watched it, it was in slow motion. When I would watch the videos i would try and look at specific distances and then look at the time. Then when I graphed it, I had some points for my prediction and then i would draw a line that would connect the points I had. The zeros in my graph mean that the skateboard wasn't moving. When the skateboard first started out it was going fast, which is shown by the fast increase of the graph. Then when the skateboard started slowing down it started rolling backwards down the driveway. Which is shown by the graph as the line kind of levels out then starts decreasing. The domain for this graph is [0,37] and the range is [0,62].
A Skateboard and a Ramp 2
This is the second installment of A Skateboard and a Ramp. This time a 14 inch ramp was used instead of a 21 inch ramp like in the first one. Just like first one the green line represents my prediction. I used the same strategy as before; I would watch the first video and remember what the time and feet were at. When the skateboard first starts out it has a sharp incline which is shown by the graph. Then the skateboard has a wobbly decline as it rolls back down the driveway. The domain of this graph [0,37] and the range is [0, 55]
A Skateboard and a Ramp 3
So this is the last installment of A Skateboard and a Ramp. This time a 7 inch ramp was used. Once again the green line represents my prediction. Now for this graph my prediction was way off. As you can see the correct graph stops and never declines, whereas my prediction did. So the skateboard starts off at steady increase before it stops for a second and continues going. Then instead of declining the skateboard just runs out of steam and stops. So the domain is [0,16] and the range is [0,43]. |
